Since 1998, Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc. has sponsored an annual National Scholarship program open to the children of qualified employees of the Company. College-bound children of Southern Wine & Spirits employees who have been with the Company on a permanent basis for at least two years are eligible every year (on or before December 1) to submit a competitive scholarship application for grants from $1,500 to $2,500 per year for post-secondary education at an academic, vocational or technical institution.

In a statement about the Scholarship Program, Harvey R. Chaplin, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Southern Wine & Spirits of America, and Wayne E. Chaplin, President and Chief Operating Officer, say, "Southern Wine & Spirits of America is proud to offer a Scholarship Program for the children of our employees. We are pleased to play a role in assuring that tomorrow's leaders, our children, have the educational opportunities they need to reach their full potential."

Mr. Harvey R. Chaplin adds, "With college costs rising every year, we are proud of our efforts to assist in the post-secondary education of the children of our employees. It is part of our Company's ongoing charitable works to give something back to the people and communities we serve in all 33 states where we operate. I encourage all of our eligible employees to submit an application on behalf of their college-bound children to the Company's National Scholarship Program. Here at Southern, we believe education is key in life, and it's worth supporting in every way we can."

To date, according to Mark Krauss, Vice President of Human Resources at Southern Wine & Spirits of America, the Company has committed in excess of $1,600,000.00 over the past five years toward supporting higher education in the form of direct grants to colleges, universities, vocational and technical colleges across the country. It is important to note that each and every phase in the scholarship award process is handled by an independent advisor, Scholarship and Recognition Programs (SRP) group, a unit of the Educational Testing Service, which is located in Princeton, New Jersey.

Mr. Krauss says, "The number of applications SRP receives every year is growing; these scholarships definitely fulfill a need, and thanks to SRP's professionalism, it continues to be a fair and objective process."
For further information and details about how to apply to the Scholarship Program, eligible employees of Southern Wine & Spirits of America are advised to speak with their division's Human Resources department; or the applicant may direct questions in writing to:
