According to Mr. Chaplin, Mr. Allen will oversee all facets of the wine operations in the state and be an integral part of the Southern Wine & Spirits of New York executive team headed by Mr. Larry Goodrich, Executive Vice President, General Manager of Southern Wine & Spirits of New York, whose appointment was announced late last year in connection with Southern's entry into the Empire State market. In this new position, Mr. Allen begins work in the New York market on February 1, 2005; Mr. Allen most recently served as Executive Vice President, General Manager of Southern Wine & Spirits of Colorado.

Mr. Chaplin said: "There is no one more qualified to help us build our wine business in the state of New York than Jim Allen. Jim has worked for Southern Wine & Spirits for 27 years in Florida, California, Hawaii and Colorado, and in each of his positions he has led our wine efforts, enabling us to become the dominant wine distributor both on- and off-premise."

Mr. Chaplin added, "Jim brings a wealth of experience and a keen insight into customer concerns as well as supplier objectives to our organization. His national reputation in the industry as a knowledgeable, go-to wine executive will no doubt bring added depth to our organization, now and into the future. Mr. Allen said, "I am thrilled and honored by this appointment and look forward to meeting our customers and suppliers across New York state. I am eager, working together with our suppliers and customers, to make the world's most exciting market for wine even more exciting."
