PETE MCLAUGHLIN PROMOTED TO GENERAL SALES MANAGER OF SOUTHERN WINE & SPIRITS OF KENTUCKY


MIAMI- March 7, 2005 - In a senior appointment designed to strengthen and reaffirm the operations of its Illinois division, Mr. Wayne E. Chaplin, President and Chief Operating Officer of Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc., the country’s largest wine and spirits distributor with operations currently in 12 states, and pending acquisitions in seven more,
announced the appointment of Mr. Will Conniff, a 27-year company veteran, as Executive Vice President, General Manager, of Southern Wine & Spirits of Illinois.  According to Mr. Chaplin, Mr. Conniff will be responsible for all facets of the Company in the state. Mr. Conniff currently serves as Executive Vice President, General Manager of Southern Wine & Spirits of Kentucky.

Mr. Chaplin said: “Will brings with him what I can best describe as the ‘Southern Spirit,’ a blend of leadership, experience, and dedication, all of which is inspired by a winning mentality that is focused on both the goals of our suppliers and our customers
alike. Will has been with Southern Wine & Spirits for 27 years, an experience that includes the last seven years in Kentucky as the state’s Executive Vice President, General Manager, and the preceding five years serving in South Florida as its Vice President, General Manager, all of which providing him the background to lead in both a Midwest market and a large Metro market. We are confident that his past experiences, combined with his leadership skills, make him the perfect candidate for the job.” Mr. Chaplin added that Mr. Conniff will continue his role as Executive Vice President, General Manager of Southern Wine & Spirits of Kentucky to insure continuity and consistency within the marketplace.”

Mr. Will Conniff said: “I am excited to take on the challenges that the Illinois market has and look forward to working with all our employees, customers and valued suppliers. In a related announcement, Mr. Chaplin said that Pete McLaughlin will be promoted to General Sales Manager of Southern Wine & Spirits of  Kentucky. Mr. Chaplin said: “Pete is a talented executive with 21 years of outstanding industry service, with the last seven years serving Southern in Kentucky. With his in-market knowledge and unrivalled sales experience, we are pleased that he will bring tremendous focus to our supplier partners and our customers throughout Kentucky.”
