April 5, 2010, Miami, Florida - Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc. (Southern), the nation’s largest wine and spirits distributor with current operations in 29 states, today announced the appointment of three senior executives to its On-Premise National Accounts Division.

Effective immediately, Bill Edwards is now serving as Vice President, Director of Sales, National Accounts; Michael King Wanamaker as Vice President, Hotels and Resorts; and Nancy Curry, as Vice President, National Account Sales.

Brad Vassar, Southern’s Executive Vice President, General Manager, said, “On behalf of the entire Southern organization, I want to congratulate Bill on his promotion and Michael and Nancy on their new appointments. These talented executives will bring added strength, focus and experience to our industry-leading National Accounts Team headed by Ken Kribel, Southern’s Senior Vice President National Accounts, On-Premise.”

“Bill, Mike and Nancy’s appointments bolster the Company’s February 15, 2010 announcement of a new organizational structure and set of capabilities for the National Accounts Division,” according to Kevin Fennessey, Southern’s Senior Vice President, Supplier Strategy and National Accounts. Mr. Fennessey added, “We are confident that they will deepen our overall abilities in this ever-more-competitive and demanding arena. Through their combined management experience, sales and marketing know-how, their effective account planning experience and their inspired focus on customer service, we anticipate great things from these professionals. ”

“These three leaders will continue to advance the overall quality and scope of the National Accounts Division’s activities—from creating supplier programs that are individually tailored to meet our customers’ exacting needs to executing successful merchandising strategies,” said Ken Kribel, Senior Vice President, Director of National Accounts, On-Premise. “They will continue to drive compliance to ensure our suppliers receive a maximum return on their investments.”

Bill has a proven track record in the national account restaurant industry and had once served as Vice President, Sales in the Company’s National Accounts Division. Under his direction, Olive Garden was recognized with the Cheers Magazine Awards of Beverage Excellence for Best Specialty Drink/Casual Dining (2003), Best Chain Overall Beverage Program (2002) and Best Chain Wine Program (2001).

Michael joined Southern in 1994 and has been serving as Vice President of National Accounts, Hotels and Resorts Division—performing the national duties associated with this role while also overseeing the California National Accounts team as Vice President and Director of National Accounts for California. The importance of hotels and resorts to Southern and its supplier partners led to the decision for Michael to focus on and expand the account base of the numerous hospitality chain accounts in the United States.

Nancy presently serves as Vice President, National Account Sales. She began her career at the Company in its California division as an Account Executive after several years in the hotel restaurant management and supplier national accounts arenas. Before joining the Company’s National Accounts team, Nancy served as Vice President, Director of National Accounts, California.

In addition to and complementing these appointments, Francesco Lafranconi will continue to serve as Director of Mixology for Southern Wine & Spirits of America. Francesco’s responsibilities include coordinating educational programs, drink development and customer training support.
