Robert Swartz Appointed Executive Vice President-General Manager and Pete Hammer Appointed Senior Vice President-West Region

Senior Vice President- Eastern Region to be Appointed

July 20, 2011, Miami, Florida - Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc. (Southern), the nation’s largest wine and spirits distributor with operations in 35 states, today announced the appointment of two senior executives to their North American Spirits & Wine Brokerage division (NASW).

Southern has appointed Robert S. Swartz as its Executive Vice President-General Manager of NASW, reporting into Brad Vassar, Southern’s Executive Vice President-General Manager. Swartz brings 23 years of progressive, cross-functional expertise in general management, human resources, and sales and marketing. He has worked with the world’s leading wine and spirits marketers, including Diageo, Terlato Wines International, Allied Domecq PLC, Seagram Americas and Stirrings. Prior to joining Southern, Swartz served as Vice President-Global Advantage at Diageo where he led a global cross-functional project team in the design and deployment of a first-of-its-kind planning, training and results measurement tool.

Southern has also appointed Pete Hammer as Senior Vice President-West Region for NASW. Hammer will report to Swartz. Hammer brings a lifetime of experience to NASW—coming from family-owned, Cleveland-based distributorship and, most recently, his role as the General Manager of the dedicated Diageo and Moët Hennessy division in Ohio.

The executive filling the NASW Senior Vice President-East Region role is still pending and will be announced shortly.
