Odom – Southern Acquires Seattle’s Cavatappi Distribuzione
Peter Dow, Cavatappi Founder and President, to Oversee the Newly-Formed Odom-Southern Cavatappi Fine Wine Group

Seattle, WA, October 11, 2011 – Odom-Southern of the Pacific Northwest—a joint venture of Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc. (Southern) and the Odom Corporation (Odom)— announces its acquisition of Cavatappi Distribuzione (Cavatappi), a Seattle, Washington-based fine wine wholesaler with statewide coverage. The deal was closed on September 30, and according to terms of the agreement, Cavatappi will operate as an independent division of Odom-Southern.

Mel Dick, Senior Vice-President-Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc.& President, Wine Division, said, “Our agreement with Peter Dow, founder and President of Cavatappi, advances our overall commitment in the Pacific Northwest and bolsters our fine-wine presence in the great wine-producing and -consuming state of Washington.” John Klein, Executive Vice-President of Sales for Odom-Southern, stated, “Cavatappi has a terrific portfolio of fine wines, and we look forward to working with Peter and his team to build upon their fine sales force—which is known in the marketplace for the prestige of their brands and the education and outstanding service of their people.”

Peter Dow said, “We are thrilled to be the newest member of the Southern family. Since our founding in 1995, we have been proud and passionate about every family-owned winery, estate, domaine and vineyard that we represent.” Dow continued, “I look forward to working closely with John Klein and the Odom-Southern partnership.”

According to Dow, Jon Marvin, Cavatappi’s Sales Manager, will continue to manage the Cavatappi business day-to-day, and he noted, “Jon has provided outstanding leadership at Cavatappi on a daily basis and will continue to do so.”
