Southern Wine & Spirits of Colorado and Its Employees Assist Wildfire Victims
(DENVER, COLORADO) August 6, 2012: To support the wildfire victims across the state of Colorado, the employees of Southern Wine & Spirits of Colorado (SWS-CO) have initiated a state-wide relief program. The effort has raised thousands of dollars for the American Red Cross to help those heavily impacted by the devastating wildfires across the state.

This humanitarian effort was a grass-roots fundraising drive initiated by Kristi Gardner and Jenni David, two SWS-CO employees. "We wanted to do our part to help those who have lost their homes to wildfires,” stated Richard Crossland, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Southern’s Colorado division.

In response to an effort coordinated by SWS-CO and Southern’s Miami headquarters, SWS-CO employees made individual donations to the wildfire relief effort. Employee donations were then matched by the Southern Wine & Spirits Charitable Foundation to double the impact.

Noting the tremendous number of Southern employee participants and the significant relief dollars that poured in voluntarily, Southern’s President & Chief Operating Officer Wayne E. Chaplin said, “I am extremely proud of our Colorado team members and their quick and generous response to this tragic natural disaster.”

Adding to Chaplin’s remarks, Southern’s Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Lee F. Hager said, "It is personally important to recognize generous employees who helped contribute to the success of our company’s relief program. We are grateful to be able to provide some measure of support for our Colorado neighbors as they rebuild their communities and lives."

Southern’s relief donation will be channeled through the American Red Cross.
