Southern Wine & Spirits of America Announces Key Commercial Leadership Appointment
Brad Vassar Appointed to Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer

Miami, Fla., May 12, 2014 — Wayne E. Chaplin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc. (Southern)—the nation’s leading wine and spirits distributor with operations in 35 states—announced today the appointment of Brad Vassar to Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately.

Following last week’s announcement from Southern’s Chairman Harvey R. Chaplin, Wayne E. Chaplin announced, “I would like to thank my dad for his mentoring over the last 30 years. I look forward to his continued counsel as Chairman and his strategic guidance in the pursuit of the long-term goals of the company.”

Wayne E. Chaplin continued, “As one of my first actions in my new role, I am announcing the appointment of Brad Vassar to Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer. Brad’s more than 20 years at Southern and his successful decade as our corporate Executive Vice President, General Manager make his new position a logical evolution for Brad and the company. On behalf of my dad, the Executive Leadership Team and the entire Southern Family, I congratulate and thank Brad on accepting this key role.”

Commenting on his appointment, Vassar added, “I’m honored and thankful to both Harvey and Wayne for their trust and faith in me to take on the Chief Operating Officer position. Working at Southern over the last 23 years, I have learned that success is, ultimately, a team effort. Wayne E.
