BOBBY BURG PROMOTED TO SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, OPERATIONS & SUPPLY CHAIN STRATEGY

BARRY GOLDBERG PROMOTED TO SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER & MANAGING DIRECTOR, BUSINESS SOLUTIONS GROUP

MIAMI - May 17, 2006 – Lee F. Hager, Vice President, Secretary and Chief Administrative Officer of Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc., the country’s largest wine and spirits distributor with operations soon to be in 27 states, today announced two senior executive appointments designed to strengthen Southern’s Senior Operations and Information Technology team.  These positions will report to Mr. Hager and further enhance the strategic importance and overall industry-leading capabilities of operations and technology across the Southern enterprise.  The two appointments are effective June 1, 2006.

In connection with this announcement, Mr. Hager said the Company promoted Bobby Burg to the new corporate position as Senior Vice President, Operations and Supply Chain Strategy, and named Barry Goldberg as the Company’s Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer & Managing Director, Business Solutions Group.

Mr. Hager said, “With these two senior management appointments, Southern Wine & Spirits of America continues its unrelenting drive to offer leading-edge operational, supply chain strategy and information technology excellence in service of our customers and our supplier partners.” Mr. Hager added, “Over the last five years, Bobby has led the establishment of our Business Solutions Group (BSG) and has justifiably earned substantial recognition from customers, trade suppliers and technology partners.  I am confident Bobby will continue to make enormous contributions to our operational efficiency—ensuring the success of our continued geographic, supplier relationship and sales expansions in the years ahead.”  Prior to this promotion, Mr. Burg served as the Company’s Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer.

Commenting on Mr. Goldberg’s appointment, Mr. Hager said, “Barry has made many outstanding contributions as the Vice President, Operations in Southern Wine & Spirits of Illinois over the past four years.  We have asked Barry to lead our efforts in information technology, which is a key enabler to the successful execution of Southern’s strategy.  Barry will work closely with all members of the Southern team to ensure that all back office functions, divisions, customers and suppliers have the benefit of his leadership and experience as well as relevant technology and tools to achieve their business goals.  Barry’s unique experiences—before joining Southern and while at Southern—eminently qualify him for the challenges ahead.”

Mr. Burg said, “I look forward to continuing to work closely with Lee and our Company’s senior management team as we enhance our value-added services within today’s ever more complex and challenging supply chain landscape.  I also know that, in conjunction with Barry, Southern’s divisional senior operations leaders and Southern’s leadership team, I can help maintain and grow the operations and technology advantages that Southern enjoys today over its competitors.  We must be sure not to grow complacent with the technologies of the past; we must continually push the envelope, making wise use of our investments in approaches and technologies that will enhance effectiveness and reduce costs."

Mr. Goldberg said, “I am honored and energized at the prospect of continuing to serve Southern in an expanding role—its entire senior management team, the approximately 10,000 employees out in our divisions, customers, suppliers and the hardworking professionals at BSG.  I look forward to building on the solid technology foundation that BSG has established, and I am excited by the challenge to extend and expand on these successes in the future.”

Commenting on the two appointments, Mr. Hager said, “This is all about our unmatched commitment to strengthening our leadership position in the distribution tier through an expansion of the strategically important information technology, operations and supply chain capabilities across our growing organization.”
