Miami, FL – September 20, 2010
Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc. (Southern), the nation’s largest wine and spirits distributor with current operations in 32 states, is proud to announce the appointment of
George Fisher to Senior Vice President, National Off-Premise Accounts. This newly created national position underscores Southern’s dedication and commitment to strategic supplier partnerships with key national accounts.
Commenting on the appointment, Brad Vassar, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Southern says, “Fisher has come to Southern with over 30 years of experience. He is a proven leader with extensive industry capabilities and we look forward to welcoming him to our team.”
Fisher’s successful accomplishments in sales and marketing with Pepsi-Cola North America—most recently as Vice President of Franchise Development, is what caught Southern’s eye. At Pepsi, he was responsible for leading the strategic planning for the franchise bottling system and built operational discipline to ensure a competitive cost structure. Prior to this position, Fisher served as Vice President of Wal-Mart Sales for Pepsi-Co where he led the Pepsi-Cola national sales and marketing teams with full P&L responsibility. In this role, he elevated his teams’ overall sales capability and selling solutions.
“George is a talented sales and operating professional with deep retail and account management experience. We look forward to having him head up our Off-Premise National Accounts Team,” commented Kevin Fennessey, Senior Vice President of National Accounts & Supplier Strategy.
This appointment is effective immediately, and Fisher will report directly to Fennessey.
