Jack Brennan, Executive Vice President, Southern Wine & Spirits of California
Jack Brennan oversees all aspects of the California division’s business operations, which include Southern Wine & Spirits, Pacific Wine & Spirits and American Wines. A consummate sales professional, Mr. Brennan has acquired wide-ranging experience over the course of more than three decades both in the field and as an executive.
"The position I hold today is one that I know,” he says. “I was a merchandiser. I was a salesman. I was a district manager and a general sales manager. These are the experiences that shaped who I am."
Shortly after graduating with a degree in business administration from Northeastern University, the Boston native launched his career in the wine and spirits business with Charles Gilman & Sons. He worked as a salesperson in the greater Boston area for two years before moving his family to Florida.
In 1976, Mr. Brennan went to work for Southern Wine & Spirits of Florida. After working as a sales representative for two years, he was promoted to sales manager, responsible for the west coast of Florida. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Brennan transferred to Southern California to manage the San Diego branch. Two years later, he became General Sales Manager responsible for all sales activities for the Southern California region.
In 1989, Mr. Brennan became Vice President and General Manager of the Northern California facility. He is responsible for building the sales force in San Diego, Southern California, and Northern California. He was promoted to Executive Vice President of California in early 2005. With more than 1,500 sales employees statewide, Southern Wine & Spirits of California constitutes the largest division of the parent company, Southern Wine & Spirits of America.
Mr. Brennan has helped raise money for programs benefiting children and the elderly. He hosts a charity golf tournament on behalf of Peninsula Outreach Programs for children with motor disabilities. Under his leadership, Southern Wine & Spirits also contributes to Ronald McDonald House, Meals on Wheels, the American Cancer Society, Boy Scouts of America, and the California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation. He has been honored by the Anti-Defamation League for his commitment to the organization, which promotes ethnic and racial tolerance.
Mr. Brennan makes his home with his wife Lisa, in both Northern and Southern California, enjoys golf, and is active in the lives of his son Ryan and daughters Christian and Summer.
