Ferrand
The art of the "small indulgence" from Cognac Ferrand

Connoisseur consumerism is driving the worldwide spirits market. The notion of a “small indulgence” entices consumers to eat the finest foods, smoke the best cigars and drink classic cocktails to revel in clean, pure tastes steeped in heritage and authenticity. Southern Wine & Spirits seeks to capitalize on this heady trend in partnership with Cognac Ferrand USA, producer of Pierre Ferrand and Landy Cognacs, Citadelle Gin and Vodka, Mathilde Liqueurs and Plantation Rums. Ferrand’s target consumer is an educated drinker with a penchant for fine wines, quality Cognacs, single-malt scotch whiskies, and premium white spirits.

Citadelle

Gin: Cognac Ferrand has crafted Citadelle French gin for the super-premium category. Citadelle constitutes the revival of a brand produced in Dunkirk that dates back to the 18th century. The recipe for Citadelle calls for 19 botanicals, including pine-scented French juniper, Moroccan coriander, bittersweet Spanish lemon peel, Mexican orange peel, angelica from Saxony and Indian cardamom. The pure spirit is distilled four times for extra smoothness, using two of France’s finest ingredients: premium wheat from the country’s lush northern Beauce region and pure water from the Angeac Champagne Springs in Cognac. Citadelle gin garnered a Double Gold Medal at the international Spirits Competition of San Francisco in 2004.

Vodka: To make Citadelle vodka, Ferrand chose Capet, a variety of wheat that has been grown in the Beauce region of France for more than 1,000 years. To bring out the purity and finesse in this vodka, only the heart of the grain is used. It is blended with fresh spring water from the tiny village of Gensac until fermentation. This water is filtered through the limestone in the Grande Champagne area near Cognac and adds a crystalline quality to the finished vodka product. Distilled five times to produce the most distinctive aromatic elements, Citadelle is available in three flavors: original, apple, and raspberry.

Mathilde Fruits Liqueurs

Mathilde liqueurs are traditional, hand-processed French fruit infusions of exceptional quality. The special fruits include the Williams Bon Chrétien pear (Poire), cultivated in the orchards of Anjou near the Loire River in central France; black currant (cassis) from the Saintonge region near Cognac; Magnific Delbard raspberries (Framboise) from the Landes region; Bush Peaches (pêche); and Orange XO, created from the marriage of old-aged Cognac and fine orange essence. The Framboise, Cassis, Pêche and Poire garnered a “Highest Recommendation” (96-100 points) from the Wine Enthusiast in February 2004.

Landy Cognac

Landy – the New Generation Cognac – is made of fine wines from the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne regions. Landy Cognac is bottled in vessels – created by leading French designers – expressing all the elegance of the Cognac tradition.
