Pierre Ferrand spirits brands: from father to son for five generations

Southern Wine & Spirits is pleased to announce the statewide distribution of products in the Pierre Ferrand portfolio, which include Cognac Ferrand, Plantation Rum, Davon Calvados and Cerbois Armagnac brands.

Cognac

Ferrand Cognac is produced at Domaine du Logis d’Angeac, in the heart of Grande Champagne, premier cru du Cognac. With 170 acres of vineyard, Peirre Ferrand is one of the last independent Cognac producers in France. The producer's cellar masters have passed their expertise in blending Cognac from father to son for five generations.

Pierre Ferrand offers Cognacs of XO qualities ranging from 10 to 70 years, including a collection of four rare-vintage items from 1914, 1970, 1971 and 1973. Cognac brands include Ambre (10 years), Reserve (20 years), Selection Des Anges (30 years), Abel (45 years), Ancestrale (70 years), and Mémoires Single Vintage. All Cognacs come in 750 ml bottles. The Ambre is also available in 375 ml bottles.

Rum

Pierre Ferrand produces Plantation brand rums from the Caribbean, including Trinidad 1993, Barbados 1993, Guyana 1990, and Jamaica (aged 8 years). All products come in 750 ml bottles. The company carries a Grande Réserve rum from Barbados also available in 1.75 ml bottles.

Plantation Rums

Trinidad 1993: barrel-aged for 11 years

Tasting notes: With delicate and elegant aromas, a long, subtle aftertaste and rich, exotic, complex coconut and citrus flavors.
Accolades: Gold medals at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in 2004 and at the Beverage Testing Institute in 2003

Jamaica 8 year-old: barrel-aged for eight years

Tasting notes: A broad palette of tropical aromas: roast bananas, coconut, and sweets. An extraordinarily rich, generous gourmet rum.

Barbados 1993: barrel-aged for nine years

Tasting notes: Subtle and elegant, with delicate sugarcane aromas and hints of vanilla. A long, smooth, pleasant flavor and a very long aftertaste.

Guyana 1990: barrel-aged for 13 years

Tasting notes: Bouquet reminiscent of flambéed bananas, dried figs, and raisins. Beautifully-balanced on the palate with a long aftertaste.
Accolades: Gold medal and 93 points at the Beverage Testing Institute of Chicago in 2004.

Grande Réserve: barrel-aged for five years

Tasting notes: A Barbados rum, Grande Réserve is smooth and bursting with vanilla, flambéed banana, coconut, and dried fruit flavors. One of the best mixing rums available.
Accolades: Silver medal at the Beverage Testing Institute.
