Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc. Promotes Mary Barranco to National Director of Training
MIAMI, February 3, 2010 Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc. (Southern) is delighted to announce the appointment of Mary Barranco to the position of National Director of Training. This newly-created position will become effective March 1st, 2010 and recognizes Southern’s continued commitment to Talent Management and Employee Development.

Ms. Barranco will report to Andrew Harman, Vice President of Organizational Development, Southern Wine & Spirits of America and will be involved in all aspects of Southern Wine & Spirits University (SWSU), the company’s in-house education and training center. SWSU was introduced in 2008 and has been successful in developing and executing a range of employee education programs across geographies, levels and disciplines.

Commenting on Ms. Barranco’s appointment, Mr. Harman said, “We are extremely excited about Mary’s new role, and we are proud that we have such an exceptionally talented and experienced professional available to assume these new responsibilities.” Ms. Barranco is currently the Director of Education for Southern Wine & Spirits in Illinois and Kentucky and has over 20 years experience in the industry. Ms. Barranco began her career working for a number of the nation’s leading wineries before joining Southern’s predecessor in Illinois as Director of Education and Recruiting.

Will Conniff, General Manager of Southern Wine & Spirits of Kentucky and Illinois, offered that Ms. Barranco has been extremely successful in her role and has not only designed and taught numerous sales and leadership programs but has also pioneered industry hospitality classes and beverage awareness training throughout the Midwest. Mr. Conniff commented, “Mary has had a very positive impact on recruiting and training and is dedicated to education and career building. She has created and delivered major initiatives, including Sales Mentorship, Leadership Development and recently co-authored—along with SWS mixologist Bridget Albert—an innovative cocktail book entitled Market Fresh Mixology.
