Southern Wine & Spirits of Indiana Corporate Social Responsibility

Chaired by Art Salvi, Vice President and General Manager of Southern Wine & Spirits of Indiana (Southern), a committee of Southern employees spearheads efforts to strengthen its ties and develop outreach initiatives statewide. Southern’s Community Outreach Committee is integral to the company’s overall effort to foster charitable collaboration and thoughtful volunteer opportunities throughout Indiana. Salvi is extremely proud of the company’s local mission to improve and inspire the quality of life of others by giving and actively participating in outreach activities and volunteerism in their local communities across the state.

I. Caroline Symmes Endowment

David Symmes, owner of Crown Liquors in Indianapolis, lost his 5-year-old daughter in 2009 to Wilms Tumor Disease—a rare kidney disease that is now survivable and treatable in most adults and children. The Caroline Symmes Endowment for pediatric cancer research at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis was established in loving memory of David’s daughter to ensure that all children stand a fighting chance against cancer. Southern, along with its strategic suppliers, has provided monetary support since 2012 in addition to participating in the annual Caroline Symmes Classic golf outing.
