Executive Vice President, General Manager of SWS of Nevada
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Mr. Sidney Chaplin, Executive Vice President, General Manager of Southern Wine and Spirits of Nevada, started in sales at a Rochester, New York wine and spirits distributorship. Mr. Chaplin's brother, Harvey Chaplin, today Chairman and CEO of Southern Wine and Spirits of America, Inc., also worked at the same wholesale operation, Ontario Liquors, which at the time ran operations in Rochester and Albany. Over the years, after serving in a number of positions of increasing responsibility, he rose to General Manager of the Rochester operation.
Then, in 1969, Mr. Sidney Chaplin, along with his brother, Mr. Harvey Chaplin, joined Southern Wine and Spirits of America, Inc. in Miami, Florida. Based in Miami, Mr. Chaplin served in a variety of senior sales and administrative roles for seven years.
In 1976, Mr. Chaplin was appointed Executive Vice President of Southern Wine and Spirits of Nevada in Las Vegas. In fulfilling his current responsibilities, Mr. Chaplin spends a great deal of time with the distributor's numerous suppliers and brand owners, emphasizing the personal touch and an equally strong commitment to fostering good relationships that are both hallmarks in all of Southern Wine and Spirits of America's operation from Maui, Hawaii to Miami, Florida.
Looking to the future, Mr. Chaplin says, "Thanks to the good relationships our company has with the people who run all the hotels [in Las Vegas and Reno], I am very optimistic about the long-term prospects of Las Vegas and Nevada."
