Corporate sponsorship, community involvement and educational excellence are all important charitable concerns at Southern Wine & Spirits of New England, according to Randy Barnhart, Vice President, General Manager of Southern Wine & Spirits of New England, whose operations encompass Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, and which is a division of Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc., the country’s leading wine and spirits distributor with a tradition of service since 1968.
According to Mr. Barnhart, in 2009, as in previous years, the Company contributes to the following Vermont-based non-profit organizations: The Open Door Mission, Rutland, Vermont as well as the Veteran’s Shelter, Soup Kitchen for Area Homeless.
In 2009, for these and other selected charitable organizations, support included participation in major sponsorships through golf tournaments, platinum sponsorships, and donations to fundraising events. According to these groups, 87% of those served through this mission are homeless veterans.
In addition, in 2009 as in previous years, the Company’s Vermont division continues its support of The State Lions Club, Elks, American Legion and Moose Lodge associations via donations of money and wine and spirits for selected fundraising events.
