Chuck Silio, executive vice president, wine manager, has been with Southern Wine and Spirits of Pennsylvania for 27 years.
In total, he has been in the wine and spirits industry for over 30 years, working for importers/distributors and also in the retail trade.
Mr. Silio has been involved in many facets of the hospitality industry in Pennsylvania. As a guest speaker, he has addressed students in hospitality programs at Drexel, Widener, Delaware County Community College, The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill, Bucks County Community College, and The University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
He has also coordinated seminars for various hospitality professional groups, including the National Association of Catering Executives, The Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association, The Pennsylvania Restaurant Association, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board's Specialty Store Staff and Management Teams, and the Pennsylvania Delaware Valley Restaurant Association, where he also serves as a Board Member.
Mr. Silio's passion for wine is both professional and as a collector. "We at Southern Wine and Spirits of Pennsylvania look to promote our products at every opportunity. There are still many consumers who have yet to enjoy wine, so our job is far from done. Tastings and samplings are valuable means to get close to our customers, which is why we pursue those avenues aggressively. They are also learning experiences for us. Staff training and education working with our on-premise customers is another value-added service we provide in driving sales."
In working with consumer and charitable organizations, Southern Wine and Spirits of Pennsylvania supports the Kidney Foundation, Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, Alzheimers Association, Children's Hospital, American Cancer Society, Red Cross and a host of other groups.
"It's all part of being in and giving back to the community."
"With the full support of Southern Wine and Spirits of America, my mission is to offer the most comprehensive, competitive and creative selection of wine to our consumers and hospitality industry partners."
