& Spirits of Pennsylvania, corporate sponsorship, community involvement and
educational excellence continue to be important charitable concerns at Southern
Wine & Spirits of Pennsylvania, a division of Southern Wine & Spirits
of America, Inc., the country’s leading wine and spirits distributor with a
tradition of service since 1968.
While
Mr. Waxman is actively and personally involved in a wide range of local and
charitable activities across the Keystone State, he is also very proud of the
Company’s overall support of the following activities noted below, which
represent only a small number of all the Company’s community and charitable
efforts.
I. Southern Wine & Spirits of
Pennsylvania and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society - Philadelphia
In
2010, Southern Wine & Spirits of
Pennsylvania continued to participate in charitable fundraisers for the
National Multiple Sclerosis Society. In addition to funding efforts for
the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society, employees have also participated in annual
MS walks.
Marshall Prince, Executive Vice President of Administration
of Southern Wine & Spirits of Pennsylvania, has been an active supporter
of the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis
Society for many years.
II. Southern Wine & Spirits of
Pennsylvania and the
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
In 2010, and
dating back the past nine years, Southern Wine & Spirits of Pennsylvania
has been the exclusive sponsor for the Bridesmaid's Ball, which has
successfully generated more than $500,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma
Society. These funds help fulfill the mission of the society--"to
cure Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease, and
Melanoma and to improve the quality of life of patients and their
families". Over 75% of these funds go directly to the Pennsylvania
Society.
III. Southern Wine & Spirits of
Pennsylvania and the
Breast Health and Prostate Institute
Southern
Wine & Spirits of Pennsylvania continues to be a proud donor to the Breast
Health and Prostate Institute, which supports breast cancer and prostate
research in the Philadelphia area. Through research and conferences,
information has been published in major medical journals. The findings
have helped to change the detection and treatment of breast cancer for women
around the world.
IV. Southern Wine & Spirits of
Pennsylvania and the
Philadelphia Art Museum
Southern
Wine & Spirits of Pennsylvania continues its support of The Philadelphia
Art Museum, one of the leading museums in the country. Southern Wine
& Spirits of Pennsylvania has been a member of The Philadelphia Art
Museum for more than 10 years and participates regularly in fundraising
activities on behalf of the museum.
V. Southern Wine & Spirits of
Pennsylvania and the
University of Pittsburgh Cancer Research
Center
Southern
Wine & Spirits of Pennsylvania has been an active supporter and has
held many fundraisers on behalf of the University of Pittsburgh’s Cancer
Research Center.
In
addition to the above noted charitable activities Marshall Prince,
Executive Vice President of Administration of Southern Wine & Spirits of
Pennsylvania, has been an active supporter of the University of
Pennsylvania Health System.
In
2010, SWS of PA has also supported the Rittenhouse Row Spring Festival, the
Bossa Nova Walk for Autism, the Mighty Oak Barrel Golf Outing and many more.
VI. Southern Wine
& Spirits of Pennsylvania and Brent Celek’s Take Flight Foundation
Brad Waxman, Executive President, General Manager of
Southern Wine & Spirits of Pennsylvania serves on the Board of Directors of
this Charity Foundation that provides support and resources to seriously ill
and physically challenged children throughout the Greater Philadelphia
area. On October 25, 2010, Southern Wine & Spirits of
Pennsylvania exclusively donated wine and spirits to the “Celebrity
Servers” Event at Morton’s Steakhouse in Philadelphia.
According
to the group’s website: “The mission of Brent Celek’s Take Flight Foundation is
to provide opportunities, support and resources to children and families in
need.
Established in 2010, the primary focus of the Take Flight Foundation is to
provide seriously ill and physically challenged children throughout Greater
Philadelphia with daily support and life changing experiences. Our goal
is to have touched the lives of more than 2,000,000 children and their family
members by 2013.”
