Corporate sponsorship, community involvement in arts and culture and supporting environmental causes are all important charitable concerns at Southern Wine/Spirits West of Washington, according to Stephen Loeb, President and CEO of Alaska Distributors and Southern Wine/Spirits West and Michael McLaughlin, Vice President, General Manager, Control States of Alaska Distributors and Southern Wine/Spirits West, whose operations encompass Washington, and which is a division of the joint venture between Alaska Distributors, Inc. and Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc.
I. Southern Wine/Spirits West - Washington and Local Cultural and Non-Profit Arts Organizations
In 2007, the Company supported a wide variety of local cultural institutions and non-profit arts organizations, including the Tacoma Museum of Glass, the Pilchuck School of Glass, the Pacific Northwest Ballet, the Intiman Theater, the Arts West Playhouse, the Paramount Theater and the Bainbridge Performing Arts Center, among others.
II. Southern Wine/Spirits West - Washington and Local Environmental Causes
In 2007, the Company supported a wide variety of local and regional environmental causes, including the annual Zoobilee Gala- benefiting the Point Defiance Zoo Society; the Jungle Party- which benefits the Woodland Park Zoo's Wild Life conservation efforts and Education programs; the Elliott's Oyster New Year festival- which supports the Puget Sound Restoration Society; and the Book Launch Party- Grist.com, which is a local environmental website for the Puget Sound Region.

Chow Down in Tacoma – This event benefits the Propeller Club, which is a local youthcharity group in Tacoma. The annual WIGA (Washington Indian Gaming Association) golf tournament – this event’s proceeds help support the Native American Indian College Scholarship program.
