Alaska Distributors - Southern Wine/Spirits West

Robert Stevens was hired by Alaska Distributors in 1986 in his present position as Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, but he has been in the wine and spirits business since 1971. Following work as a partner in Stevens Munk & Associates, an advertising production company in Spokane, Washington, in 1971, Mr. Stevens founded Cellar One, a premium wine and beer retail store, also located in Spokane.

Next, from 1973 to 1974, Mr. Stevens served as Sales Manager for Dordic Imports a wine and beer wholesale firm based in Seattle, followed by, from 1974 to 1975, his position as Northwest Regional Manager for Monsieur Henri Wines, then a division of PepsiCo, Inc. From 1975 through 1986, he served in positions of increasing responsibility –  Salesman, Wine Manager, Vice President and General Manger – K& L Distributors, a leading wine and spirits distributor in Bellevue, Washington. Since 1986, Mr. Stevens has served as Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing at Alaska Distributors.  

Mr. Stevens has a BA in Journalism and English from Eastern Washington University and has also completed graduate studies in Economics from the same institution. Mr. Stevens has also served five-year’s active duty in the U.S. Army, including one-year’s combat duty in Viet Nam, as well as 25 years in the U.S. Army’s Reserve Forces; he retired in 1990 as a Lieutenant Colonel.

In civic and professional Activities, Mr. Stevens is Past President, Washington State Beer & Wine Wholesaler’s Association and the Founding Commissioner, Washington Wine Commission, Washington State Department of Agriculture; he is also the Past State Chairman, AWARE – Industry Task Force on Alcohol Problems and a Board Member of

the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America trade association.
