I. Harvest Hope Food Bank – Annual Food Drive
The mission of Harvest Hope Food Bank is to provide for the needs of the hungry by gathering and sharing quality food with dignity, compassion and education. The group distributes food and related products to more than 400 nonprofit member agencies in 20 counties across central South Carolina. Southern has supported their Annual Food Drive since 2002.

II. Benedict College – Charter Day Scholarship Award Dinner
Founded in 1870, Benedict College is a private, co-educational liberal arts institution located in Columbia, South Carolina. In 2014, Benedict College was ranked for the third consecutive year as one of the top baccalaureate colleges in the nation by Washington Monthly magazine for creating social mobility among low-income students and producing cutting-edge scholarship and research.
In addition to a financial contribution, Southern made an in-kind donation of wine and spirits in support of the Charter Day Scholarship Award Dinner. This black-tie event serves as financial support to Benedict College and reflects a continued commitment to higher education. The company began its support of Benedict College in 2005 and plans ongoing involvement in the years to come.

III. Families Helping Families
Families Helping Families (FHF) provides a business-like approach to organizing holiday giving for the neediest families in South Carolina. By coordinating with local agencies and community assistance programs, FHF ensures that donations and charitable giving are targeted to those who need help the most.
Since 2002, Southern South Carolina employees annually adopt families during the holiday season. Gifts are collected by the company throughout the season.

IV. Columbia Urban League
The mission of the Columbia Urban League movement is to enable African American and other underserved communities to secure self-reliance, primarily in education, employment, and economic development. The Urban League is the nation's oldest and largest community-based movement devoted to empowering African Americans and others to enter the economic and societal mainstream. Columbia Urban League offers programs designed to provide economic empowerment and educational opportunities for those in need.
Since 2005, Southern has supported the Columbia Urban League’s annual fundraiser through an in-kind donation of wine and spirits. The fundraiser is dedicated to empowering underserved communities and improving their quality of life.

Sistercare, Inc. is a program of services for battered women and their children residing in Fairfield, Kershaw, Lexington, Newberry and Richland counties in South Carolina.

VI. Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter
Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter provides a safe and nurturing environment for abused and neglected children and unaccompanied teens, offering them a broad range of services concentrating on personal healing and development. The shelter is open 24 hours a day and provides medical and mental health care, crisis adjustment, transitional counseling, after-school tutoring and recreational and social activities in addition to food, clothing and shelter.
Since 2011, the company has made an annual financial donation in support of center programs.
